«AVIVAC-ND» strain B1

About the product

«AVIVAC-ND» is a live dry vaccine against Newcastle disease based on strain B1.

The vaccine has the appearance of a homogenous dry pale yellow or pale brown porous substance that easily dissolves in water or normal saline without forming flakes or sediment. The vaccine is available in hermetically sealed vials containing 1 cm³ to 5cm³ of the product. Each vial contains 100 to 5000 doses.

Biological properties
One commercial dose of the vaccine corresponds to one nasally administered dose, equalling 6,7 lg EID_50/cm³ of ND virus strain B1. Immunity in vaccinated chickens forms over a period of 2 to 3 weeks and lasts up to 3 months. The vaccine is suitable for use if its activity is at least 8,5 lg EID_50/cm³. The vaccine is innocuous and non-reactogenic; it possesses no therapeutic properties.

Indications for use

Clinically healthy birds of all ages are vaccinated orally, intranasally or via coarse spray. Vaccination time is chosen on the basis of haemagglutination inhibition antibody titres measured for 25 blood serum samples collected from birds in each poultry pen following the conventional procedure.

Chickens should undergo the first round of serological testing at the age of 5 to 10 days. Birds should be vaccinated if antihaemagglutinin titres are lower than 1:8 in not less than 20% of the samples. In the event that antihaemagglutinin titres are higher than 1:8 in not less than 80% of the samples, the birds should be tested every 3 to 5 days. Once the antihaemagglutinin titres fall below 1:8 in 20% or more of the samples, the birds should be revaccinated.

Further serological testing should be carried out at intervals of 14 to 28 days.

Revaccination is performed if haemagglutination inhibition antibody titres in blood serum obtained from vaccinated birds are less than 4 log 2 (1:16) in not less than 20% of the samples.

Storage requirements
The shelf life of the vaccine is 12 months from the date of manufacture if stored and transported in a dark dry place at a temperature between +2 and +10°С.
