«AVIVAC-IB+ND» strains H-120 and LaSota

About the product

«AVIVAC-IB+ND» is a live dry vaccine against Newcastle disease and avian infectious bronchitis based on ND virus strain LaSota and IB virus strain H-120 (Massachusetts serotype).

The vaccine is prepared from extraembryonic fluid of SPF chicken embryos infected with attenuated IBV and NDV. The vaccine has the appearance of a homogenous dry pale yellow or pale brown porous substance that easily dissolves in water or normal saline without forming flakes or sediment. The vaccine is available in hermetically sealed vials containing 1 cm3 to 5cm3 of the product. Each vial contains 100 to 5000 doses.

Biological properties

One immunizing dose contains 3,5 lg EID/cm3 IBV and 6,5 lg EID50/cm3 NDV. Immunity in vaccinated chickens forms over a period of 2 to 3 weeks after double vaccination and lasts at least 3 months. The vaccine is suitable for use if its activity is at least 6,0 lg EID50 /cm3 for the IBV component and 8,5 lg EID50/cm3 for the NDV component. The vaccine is innocuous and non-reactogenic; it possesses no therapeutic properties.

Indications for use

Clinically healthy birds of all ages are subject to vaccination depending on the epizootic situation on IB and ND. Birds are vaccinated twice at an interval of 10 to 14 days intranasally, intraocularly or via coarse spray.

The robustness of post-vaccination immunity is evaluated 2 to 3 weeks after double vaccination using HI or ELISA diagnostic kits licensed for use in Russian Federation.

Vaccination is considered successful if not less than 80% of the immunized chickens demonstrate mean ELISA antibody titres against IB and NDV exceeding the minimum threshold value specified by the manufacturer of the kit by 100% or more. If haemagglutination inhibition antibody titres against NDV are measured, they should be not less than 1:16 (4,0 log2).

If antibody levels in birds’ blood serum fall below the specified values, re-vaccination must be conducted.

Storage requirements

The shelf life of the vaccine is 12 months from the date of manufacture if stored and transported in a dark dry place at a temperature between +2 and +10°С.
