About the product

«AVIVAC-POX» is a dry culture-based vaccine against avian pox based on virus strain K with supplied diluent.

The vaccine is prepared from skin cell culture of SPF chicken embryos infected with attenuated avian pox virus strain K.

 The vaccine has the appearance of a homogenous yellowish white or yellowish pink porous substance that easily dissolves in the supplied diluent without forming flakes or sediment. 25% glycerol in phosphate buffered solution is used as the diluent, which has the appearance of a transparent colourless liquid. The vaccine is available in glass vials containing 100 to 3000 immunizing doses. The diluent is available in glass vials containing the volume of diluent required to make 500 to 3000 doses of the vaccine.

Biological properties

One immunizing dose of the vaccine contains 1000 ID₅₀ avian pox virus. Humoral and cellular immunity to avian pox forms within 5 to 7 days post immunization. Birds vaccinated at the age of 2 months and above remain immune to the virus throughout the entire rearing period.

Indications for use

Only clinically healthy birds aged 2 months and above should undergo vaccination. Birds are vaccinated singly. Should the need arise, vaccination can be carried out at the age of 25 to 30 days if revaccination is performed in 2 to 3 months. Vaccination must not take place if any infectious diseases are present at the farm.

Before use, the vaccine is dissolved in the supplied diluent. The contents of one vial of the vaccine are dissolved in one vial of the diluent in accordance with the table presented in the instructions for use. The vaccine is administered subcutaneously into the wing web via a 2-needle injector at the dose of 0.013 to 0.015 cm³.

5 to 8 days post immunization pock marks appear on the inner and outer surface of the wing web in the area surrounding the injection site. The marks disappear over a period of 28 to 30 days.

Storage conditions

The shelf life of the vaccine is 12 months from the date of manufacture if stored and transported in a dark dry place at a temperature between +2 and +10°С.
The shelf life of the diluent is 12 months if stored in a dry dark place at a temperature between +2 and +25°С.
