“AVIVAC-ND-START”
About the product
«AVIVAC-ND-START» is an inactivated emulsified vaccine against Newcastle disease in chickens.
The vaccine is prepared from inactivated Newcastle disease virus strain La Sota that is mixed with oil-based adjuvant. The vaccine has the appearance of a uniform white emulsion. A small amount of oily phase can form upon storage in the top part of the vial, however, in this case the product reverts to uniformity when thoroughly shaken. The vaccine is available in glass or plastic vials containing 4500 to 5000 doses of the product.
Biological properties
Immunity to Newcastle disease develops 21 days post immunization and lasts not less than 3 months. The vaccine is innocuous and non-reactogenic; it possesses no therapeutic properties.
Indications for use
Chickens at the age of 1 to 10 days are subject to vaccination. The vaccine is administered singly into the middle third of the neck at the dose of 0,1 cm3. Only clinically healthy chickens can undergo vaccination. Revaccination of chickens against Newcastle disease is carried out using a live vaccine following a vaccination scheme implemented at the farm without taking into account the timeline for immunization with an inactivated vaccine. Before administration the vial containing the vaccine is gently shaken. The vaccine is administered via sterile syringes with needles not longer than 10 mm.
Robustness of immunity is evaluated 14 to 21 days post vaccination by way of measuring haemagglutination inhibition or ELISA antibody levels in not less than 25 blood serum samples from chickens.
Vaccination is considered successful if not less than 80% of the immunized chickens demonstrate mean antibody titres against NDV exceeding the minimum threshold value specified by the manufacturer of the kit by 100% or more if measured by ELISA. If haemagglutination inhibition antibody titres against NDV are measured using an HI assay, they should be not less than 1:16 (4,0 log2).
If these criteria are not met, revaccination is performed.
Storage requirements
The shelf life of the vaccine is 18 months from the date of manufacture, if stored and transported in a dark dry place at a temperature between +2 and +8°С.
